UPDATE: There have been some studies that show this may not help, but hinder, any immune support with the COVID-19.
Let’s talk about how to build immunity, shall we? With all the talk about coronovirus, and just in general, we should get to know the natural antiviral wonder known as Elderberry, also known as Sambucus.
Elderberry has been used medicinally since the days of Hippocrates. You know, the dude credited with being the father of medicine? Yeah, that guy.
This little dark in color, antioxidant and immunity boosting powerhouse can be ingested in a variety of ways. You can drop tincture* into water, you can make or buy a syrup, gummies, tea, or jams. You’ll also see it in throat lozenges and cold medicine (Sambucus nigra, Sambucus canadensis), as wine and liqueur. Elderberry is rather versatile, and I’m here for it.
Elderberry is also good for the skin as it helps fight wrinkles and combat acne. It’s also good for your luscious locks. In addition: it inhibits growth of bad bacteria, is a good source of potassium, vitamins A, B6 and C and good for your kidneys, bladder and lungs. The actual berries are packed with fiber (#naturesbroom), which helps aid in gut heath.
So really, why would you not figure out some way to incorporate this little berry into your diet?
One thing to note – Don’t eat them raw. Boil them first.. *tincture – a medicine made by dissolving material in alcohol, water or oil
I’ve purchased online at Starwest Botanicals. You can also purchase on Amazon, Whole Foods, or any health food store.
