Have you watched the @brenebrown special on Netflix? It’s🔥
Brene (we’re on a 1st name basis) states that joy is “the most terrifying & difficult emotion.” We dress rehearse tragedy in order to “try & beat vulnerability to the punch.” “We have an innate fear that our joy will be taken away, that we’re somehow not deserving of it.” So wise! Many of us wait for & plan out the worst case scenario.
“I’ve never interviewed a single person who talks about the capacity to really experience &soften into joy who doesn’t actively practice gratitude.”
“Actively practice gratitude.” The definition is “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for & to return kindness.” Triangle (pictured) my nemesis. I love, hate, respect, approach w. caution & learn from it. I’m newly grateful for it.
I’ve shifted my mindset in light of the knowledge 💣dropped. While in class, a common thought “F***! triangle is next! Maybe I’ll sit it out.” I rarely take that route, it’s an option. There’s a pattern I’m meant to open up & examine. Much like the movie Groundhog’s Day. I’ll relieve triangle over & over until I learn how to break the pattern. Perhaps I’m to edit my thoughts before the pose, as I stand there staring @ myself in the mirror “I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
The “master posture” represents a push, a pull, &opening to joy & emotion. It’s said that this posture is “the perfect marriage btw. the ♥️& the lungs.” In TCM, Joy, the most terrifying & difficult emotion, is associated w. the ♥️. The ♥️, ruler of all, has a posse of 3 meridians: small intestine, pericardium & triple heater. No wonder joy’s intense. Other meridians are just paired up.
The lungs are associated w. grief. All 6 ♥️& lung meridians run up & down the arms & hands, which you’re meant to stretch in opposite directions, to allow qi, or prana, to flow. The feeling of joy is powerful. I have a hard time being in the pose & allowing true joy. The familiar & seductive feeling of grief takes over, I fall out of posture &back into my comfort zone. Stagnation. Yawn.com/boring. Time for joy! 1 large order of gratitude 🙏🏻please!
