Farmer’s Markets

Farmer’s Market

I went to the farmer’s market this morning and all I got were these gorgeous flowers. Not because there weren’t stalls overflowing with gorgeous, fresh and vibrant produce and local food vendors displaying their culinary prowess, but I’ve chosen to do another fast mimicking diet this week.

I adore going to a farmer’s market no matter where I am. Locally, it’s an amazing place to buy fresh, local and seasonal produce. When I travel, I find these markets an amazing way to experience not just the local produce and food, but also the vibe and community of the city. Some of the best souvenirs from my travels have come from farmer’s markets.

Shopping at a farmer’s market is awesome for a number of reasons, some of which are: eating locally and seasonally is good for your overall health and wellbeing, the food found at farmer’s markers does not have to travel too far to reach it’s destination thus reducing the carbon footprint, It’s also fresher than what you see in a grocery store, shopping and cooking from the farmers market helps you to reconnect with where you food comes from and the cycles of nature in your region and meeting and talking to farmers and food artisans is a great opportunity to learn more. And let’s not forget that supporting local agriculture is kick ass for a local economy and small or smaller business owner.

That look on my face is that of hunger.
